Sight words with audio

Sight words are the common words children learn to recognise on sight instead of sounding out, like the, said and because. Many don’t follow phonics rules, which is why hearing them helps.

The Dolch lists (220 words plus 95 nouns) are grouped by grade. The Fry list ranks the most common words in English reading; the first 100 make up about half of everything children read.
